Finance Committee Minutes January 2012

MINUTES of the Wrockwardine Wood & Trench Parish Council Finance Committee Meeting held on Tuesday 3rd January 2012 at the Parish Council Centre, Church Road, Wrockwardine Wood at 7pm.

PRESENT: Cllrs. S.A. Watkins – Chair, C.F. Smith – Vice Chair, K. Hanmer, M. Hanmer and D. Plant.

11/687 Apologies

No apologies, all members present.

11/688 Declarations of Interest

There were no declarations of interest in any item specified in the agenda.

11/689 To receive budget information

RESOLVED – to accept the statement of grants issued to date, showing a balance of £690.

11/690 Grant Applications

RESOLVED that the Council in accordance with its powers under Section 137 of the Local Government Act 1972 should incur the following expenditure which, in the opinion of the Council, is in the interests of the area or its inhabitants and will benefit them in a manner commensurate with the expenditure.

  1. To consider a grant application from Compass Lift Information Café (CLiC)
    RESOLVED – to award a grant of £100 towards supporting a wellbeing drop in café for young people in Telford.
  2. To consider a grant application from Ironbridge Brass Band Festival.
    RESOLVED – to award a grant of £50 towards the Brass Band Festival to be held in July 2012.

11/691 To consider the financial support of the Youth Club, Brownies Group and Toddler Group

RESOLVED – to continue to support the Youth Club, Brownies Group and Toddler Group by allowing them free use of the Parish Council Centre. It was noted that each group has use of the centre for two hours each week during term time.

11/692 To consider a letter from Rev. Stafford requesting a retrospective contribution towards resurfacing the church drive.

Rev. Stafford is requesting a contribution towards the total cost of £6500 for resurfacing the church path in 2010.
RESOLVED – to contribute £1000 towards the cost of resurfacing the church path. (Local Government Act, Section 215 applies.) It was AGREED to ask Rev. Stafford to consult with us before any major work is carried out in future.

11/693 To consider the installation of a Panic Button at the Parish Council Centre

RESOLVED – to install a panic button at the Parish Council Centre for use by the Keyholder and Clerk at a cost of £255 plus VAT.

11/694 To consider the 2012/13 Precept for recommendation to the Full Council

Suggested figures were tabled and considered by the Committee (copy attached to office Minutes.) It was RESOLVED to recommend to the Full Council that the 2012/13 Precept should be set at £106,000 for the sixth year running.
