News at Wrockwardine Wood & Trench Parish Council

Changes to Councillors

Two new Parish Councillors were elected at the recent elections. We would like to welcome Councillor Shirley Reynolds and Councillor Steve Reynolds. You can contact them via the Parish Council Office.

Councillor Shirley Reynolds was elected as Borough Councillor for Wrockwardine Wood & Trench. Cllr. Reynolds will be holding a monthly surgery at the Parish Council Centre and the first few dates will be Friday 24th June, Friday 29th July and Friday 30th September between 5.30 & 6.30pm.

Two of our councillors have retired. We would like to thank Jhalman Uppal and Derek Pearce for all their hard work over the past years and wish them well for the future.

At our recent Annual General Meeting we had a change of Chair and Vice Chair. Councillor Charles Smith is Chairman and Councillor Les Brayne Vice Chairman for the next twelve months.

News from local Police Officer John Walters

As your local Police Officer, I have been asked to announce the Young Good Citizen 2011 award, details below. Also to alert you to the new crime initiative ‘Immobilise’ which is aimed at identifying stolen or lost property that are identifiable and which would include electrical items: mobile phones, computers, game consoles and any other item that have serial numbers etc.

The method is simple, by registering these items, new or old, over the internet on www.immobilise.com. The scheme is free of charge and you can register your items, under your own details, that are secure from other members of the public. By registering, it increases our ability to detect offences and to recover property lost or stolen.

If you do not have access to a computer, we may be able to help you with registering your property.

Please visit the website, it is very user friendly and family members or friends can assist, if needed, to register your valuable items.

Please help us to help you!.

New Footpath

near Oakengates Leisure Centre

The Parish Council has part funded the new footpath near Oakengates Leisure Centre that is being constructed as we go to print. The footpath will link the New Road footbridge and thus the New Road area, with the network of footpaths to the North of Wrockwardine Wood Way and West of New Road. This path will provide an access route to Oakengates Leisure Centre via New Road for everyone including pushchair users and mobility impaired. Telford & Wrekin Council and Oakengates Town Council have also part-funded this project.
